Birth Doula Support in Lytham, Preston & The Fylde Coast
Doula support in Lancashire for women who aren’t just hoping for a positive birth - they’re actually preparing for it.
You’re here because you want more than to “just get through it”
You’ve heard the stories…
The long inductions that dragged on for days.
The “it all escalated really quickly”.
The “I just did what they told me”.
And every time you hear one, you’re thinking:
no… I’m not doing that.
Not in a judgmental way.
But in a there has to be another way to do this kind of way.
Maybe you’ve already given birth and you’ve spent the last few years unpicking it. Questioning what happened and what you wish you’d known.
You’re not naive.
You know things don’t always go to plan.
But you also know that "just getting through it" was never going to be enough for you.
You want that kind of birth not THAT kind of birth
You want to give birth and ugly cry afterwards — holding your baby, feeling nothing but pride.
Your newborn on your chest, melting into you as you exhale, knowing, YOU. DID. IT.
Your partner looks at you like they can’t quite believe what they just saw. They’re wide eyed, in complete awe, like you actually did that. Not a throwaway “you smashed it” — but that look. You know the one.
You want to come out of birth feeling like you could take on the world.
The days, weeks and months that follow are all about you, your baby and your family. You’re not replaying your birth trying to make sense of what happened.
When you go to baby groups you hear stories like the ones you used to fixate on. You look down at your baby and take a moment, knowing that you wouldn’t change a thing about your birth.
How you feel about your birth is what stays with you and preparing for your birth with intention is something I’ve supported hundreds of families with in person and online over the last 3 years.
Meet Eleanor, a multi-award winning birth educator and doula in Lancashire
Hi I’m Eleanor, I’m a mum of two and before becoming a Doula I founded Birth With Choice; birth prep that goes beyond the basics and actually prepares families for the realities of giving birth in today’s maternity system.
After my daughter’s birth and supporting the births of close friends and family members, I decided something had to change.
So I started Birth With Choice.
Since 2024, I’ve supported hundreds of families across four continents—working alongside midwives and birth experts to make informed, confident birth the norm, not the exception.
I’ve supported first-time mums, mums after trauma, IVF mums, pregnancies after loss—and the partners walking it all with them.
Families choose me as their Doula because of my expertise in navigating the NHS.
When you have someone by your side who knows exactly what each stage of labour looks like, and can lean in and quietly say “this is completely normal, you’re doing brilliantly”… then the moment you think I can’t do this anymore is usually the moment you realise you actually can and you’re more powerful than you ever knew.
When you have someone who can translate your options, and is solely focused on you — not the rota, not the next shift — you don't have to fight to be heard. You can stay focused on the incredible work your body is doing and trust it, because someone else is holding the rest.
What the evidence actually says
The research is clear. Women with continuous support during labour are less likely to need a caesarean, less likely to need an instrumental birth, and significantly more likely to look back on their birth feeling positive about how it went.
That last one matters more than people realise.
Wanting a physiological birth isn't enough anymore. You can have a birth plan, a playlist, a bag packed with all the right things, and still feel completely swept along the moment something shifts in that room.
Having someone next to you who understands that system, who knows the language, who can quietly help you pause and think before you respond, changes the dynamic completely.
That's why families choose to work with me as their doula.

When you feel that first contraction, the one that makes you pause mid-sentence and think oh. okay. this is it, you don't have to figure out what to do next on your own.
You message me.
And I'm there. Not physically, not yet, but I'm with you.
We stay in touch through early labour. I help you read what your body is doing, when to rest, when to move, what's normal, what to watch for. You're not Googling. You're not spiralling. You've got someone who actually knows what's happening, and more importantly, someone who knows you, right there in your pocket.
When it's time, I come to you.
When I walk into that room, whether that's your living room, a labour ward at Royal Preston, or a birth centre, something shifts.
Not because I do anything dramatic.
But because you've been waiting for that moment without realising it.
The moment where someone walks in who is entirely, unconditionally on your side.
Here's what I bring with me that nobody else in that room has:
Years of experience as a hypnobirthing practitioner, so I already know the techniques you've been practising, and I can help you stay anchored in them when things feel intense. I'm not reminding you of something you half-remember from a YouTube video. I'm right there, breathing with you, guiding you back to what you already know.
A deep understanding of how your body moves through labour and how your body can be supported to do it well. I know positions. I know movement. I know when something small, a shift in how you're standing, a change in rhythm, can make a real difference to how labour progresses.
Hands that know what to do. Labour massage, pressure, counter-pressure, the physical support that partners want to give but often don't know how. I bring that. So you're held, properly, in the moments where your body is working its hardest.
And I know what it looks like just before things change. Before the midwife's tone shifts, before a new face appears at the door, before the words "we'd recommend" come into the room.
I see it before you do and that means you're never caught off guard.
When the language gets clinical, when suddenly there are options being presented and decisions to be made and you're supposed to know what to say, I'm right next to you. Quietly translating. Helping you understand what's actually being asked. Giving you a moment to breathe before you respond.
Not because you can't handle it.
Because you shouldn't have to handle it alone.
And your partner.
They're doing everything they can. But birth is intense, and there's a version of that day where they spend half of it quietly panicking and pretending they're not.
When I'm there, they don't have to hold it all. They can actually be present with you, which is what you both want.
I'm not watching the clock. I'm not thinking about the next shift, or the notes I need to write, or the other rooms on the ward.
My only focus, from the moment I arrive to the moment you're settled after your baby is born, is you.
That's it. That's the whole job.
In those early hours, when the world is suddenly very still and very loud at the same time, I'm still there.
I'll help you find your way with feeding, those first attempts that nobody quite prepares you for, the positioning, the questions you didn't know you'd have. I've supported a lot of women through those early moments and I'm not going anywhere until you feel steady.
When your baby is tucked up on your chest and the intensity starts to settle, I'll make sure you're taken care of too.
A hot drink. Something to eat. You, warm and fed and held, with your baby, your partner, and nowhere else to be.
Because you just did one of the most extraordinary things a human body can do.
You deserve to be looked after in that moment.
Not handed a form. Not left to figure out the next bit alone. Looked after.
That's what I mean when I say I show up completely.

Your questions answered
Common questions about doula support in Lancashire. If you can’t see the answer you’re looking for, just drop me a message.
-
A doula doesn’t provide medical care.
Your midwife does that.
What I do is support you — emotionally and practically — throughout pregnancy and birth.
Helping you understand what’s happening, what your options are, and feel confident in the decisions you’re making.
So you’re not left trying to figure things out in the moment.
-
Absolutely not.
I support all types of birth — home birth, hospital birth, induction, and caesarean.
Because this isn’t about a specific kind of birth.
It’s about you feeling informed and supported, whatever direction things take.
-
Yes and that’s a big part of my role.
Partners are often expected to just “figure it out” during birth.
But it can feel intense and overwhelming for them too.
Let’s be honest, if your birth partner is confident, excited and informed, you’re going to feel so much safer in your birth environment.
The last thing we want is you worrying about them! I’m here to hold you both.
-
Yes! A winning combo in my opinion.
Hypnobirthing helps you prepare your mind for birth.
So you feel calmer, more informed, and more confident going into it.When you work with me, you get full access to my Birth With You antenatal and hypnobirthing course from 12 weeks — alongside in-person preparation.
So you’re not just learning techniques…
You’re properly understanding how birth works, what your options are, and how to approach it in a way that feels right for you.
You can absolutely use hypnobirthing on its own.
What a doula does is support you in staying connected to that during birth — especially if things feel intense or don’t go how you’d hoped.
I’m there alongside you, helping you stay grounded in what you already know and confident using it in the moment.
-
Most people don’t hire a doula because everything feels easy.
They do it because something feels uncertain.
Because deep down, they don’t want to:
feel out of control
feel unheard
or come away from birth with questions they can’t shakeYou can’t control every part of birth.
But you can control:
how prepared you are, how supported you feel, and how confident you are in the decisions you’re making.
Let’s chat - Book a Connection Call

I can’t wait to hear them!
